Professor Barbara Ravelhofer

Professor of English Literature and Renaissance Studies, exploring European spectacle, book history, and oral traditions from the Middle Ages to the seventeenth century.

About

Professor Ravelhofer studied English and German Literature at the University of Munich before completing her PhD at Trinity College, Cambridge. Early in her career, she held a Junior Research Fellowship at St John’s College, Cambridge, followed by visiting fellowships at the Universities of Bologna, Princeton, and Harvard, which helped shape her comparative and international approach to early modern performance studies. She is currently based at Durham University and is a Research Associate of the Centre for History and Economics, Cambridge.
